Dr. Zac began his career working in professional sports. He noticed a large discrepancy between the quality of care that elite athletes receive when compared to the normal active public. This inspired him to create Cohen Health and Performance, a place that treats everyone as if they are a professional athlete!
He graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University in 2011 with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, and also became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). While at Northeastern he worked as a Physical Therapy Graduate Assistant for the New England Patriots, and served as a strength and conditioning coach for Northeastern University athletics.
Prior to moving to Maryland, Zac was a Performance Physical Therapist with EXOS (formerly known as Athletes’ Performance) in Dallas, TX where he treated and trained the world’s most gifted athletes from throughout the NFL, MLB, NBA, MLS, and various Olympic teams.
Dr. Alex has a passion for using his specialized background to meet the needs of clients wherever they fall upon the spectrum between rehab and performance development. His professional aspiration is to get less people rehabilitating and more people training.
Drawn to sports medicine after his own youth soccer experiences, he graduated with his BS in athletic training from Boston University and worked as a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) prior to PT school. He then graduated magna cum laude from The George Washington University with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Prior to moving back to the DMV area, Alex was a Physical Therapist with Elite Performance and Rehabilitation in Santa Barbara, CA. There he gained valuable experience working with a wide variety of clients, including amateur and professional endurance, martial arts, volleyball, and tennis athletes.

She is passionate about working with athletes of all ages to reduce their risk of further re-injury while helping them to return back to their active lifestyles stronger and more confident than before.
Outside of the office, Ciara enjoys hiking with her two dogs, training in Olympic lifting and Power lifting, traveling with her husband, and giving back to the community.
Dr. Cody Brown, after overcoming multiple injuries of his own, developed a passion for helping injured athletes reach their goals in both the rehab and performance settings. While overcoming his injuries, he observed differences in the level of care being provided by physical therapists. He soon came to the realization that people often received limited one-on-one time and were not getting the highest level of service they deserved. Wanting to provide people with the best experience and outcomes, he was drawn to practice at Cohen Health and Performance.
Cody played football at Springfield College and was voted as team captain his senior year. After his football career, he remained at Springfield College and earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Cody has completed clinical affiliations at Performance Physical Therapy in Wyoming, RI, and Champion Sports Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama. While at Champion Sports Medicine, Cody was able to treat many elite level athletes and help them return to optimal performance.
Cody is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Reflecting on his own past injuries, he is driven to deliver the best results possible for every person that he works with.
