Dr. Elizabeth Farmer
PT, DPT
Performance Physical Therapist
Dr. Elizabeth Farmer is originally from North Carolina and recently moved to the DMV area. She grew up dancing and took ballet lessons for 13 years before dislocating her shoulder her junior year of high school. Her experience in physical therapy after her shoulder surgery is what ultimately drew her to physical therapy. While she chose not to continue ballet in college at Duke University, she joined Duke Dhamaka, a competitive traditional Indian dance team (Bhangra). Additionally, her successful rehab journey in high school allowed her to foster a love of weightlifting at Duke.
After graduating with a Biology major and a French minor, Elizabeth stayed at Duke to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy. While in physical therapy school, she took up long distance sports and completed 2 marathons, 4 half marathons, and one sprint triathlon, all while continuing weightlifting. Elizabeth uses her personal experiences in dance and endurance sports, as well as her clinical experience working with high school and collegiate athletes to inform her physical therapy care. She is deeply passionate about empowering patients to continue to stay active and loves helping athletes achieve their goals.
